Why do I get both an M3U and an M3U Plus URL?

M3U Plus (type=m3u_plus) is the modern variant that includes channel logos, group titles and EPG IDs. Plain M3U is a stripped-down version some legacy players still need. Use M3U Plus unless your player has issues with it.

My host has https - does this still work?

Yes. Switch the protocol selector to HTTPS. Many IPTV providers run unencrypted HTTP, but a growing number now offer HTTPS endpoints for the player API and M3U download.

I pasted a URL but the converter says it is not Xtream - why?

The tool expects an Xtream Codes URL ending in get.php, player_api.php or xmltv.php with username and password query parameters. Bare playlist URLs without those parameters cannot be reversed because the credentials are not embedded.

M3U vs Xtream Codes - which one your player needs

An M3U URL is a single download link that returns one big text file containing every channel and stream you have access to. It is simple, universally supported, and stateless - any player can load it and start streaming.

Xtream Codes is a structured API made up of three endpoints (player_api.php, get.php, xmltv.php) that the player queries on demand. Instead of one giant download, the player can fetch just the categories you open, just the EPG for the channel you are watching, or just the metadata for a movie you searched. That is why TiviMate, IPTV Smarters Pro, and OTT Navigator all prefer Xtream when the provider offers it - the UI feels faster, search works properly, and last-watched / continue-watching state is reliable.

When you would actually convert

Xtream → M3U: your provider only gave you a host / username / password but you want to use a player that requires an M3U URL (some Smart TV apps, IPTV-Org tooling, or browser-based players). The converter assembles the correct get.php?username=...&password=...&type=m3u_plus URL for you so you do not have to remember the exact query-string format.

M3U → Xtream: you have an old M3U URL bookmarked but you want to switch to TiviMate or another Xtream-aware player to get richer EPG and search. The converter parses the URL and pulls the host, username, and password back out so you can paste them into the new player. Both directions run entirely in your browser - no credentials ever reach our server.
